Inclusion cannot be purchased.
A paid listing keeps your facts current and puts your own words on your profile. It does not put you on a city page, does not move you up one, and does not stop you being removed if you stop qualifying. These are three separate things and the site shows them separately.
- Selected
- Editorial inclusion
- Independent, scarce, and decided by the guide alone. Never influenced by payment of any kind.
- Verified
- Operator-supported facts
- A selected venue keeps its facts, imagery and booking details current. A factual status, not an award.
- Sponsored
- Paid placement
- Always labelled, always visually separate, never mixed into selection.
The process
How your venue is read
-
01
What happens first
Nothing you need to do. Every venue enters the same way — as a candidate, found by research, with no status of any kind. One city on this site are published as checked rather than selected, precisely because nothing in them has been through the standard yet.
-
02
What we read
Your own website, and then the pages it links to — lessons, memberships, leagues, pricing. Facts we take from your site are recorded as your claim, dated, and marked as coming from you. They are not presented as things we have confirmed until someone confirms them.
-
03
What we will not take from prose
Bay counts, opening hours and prices are never read out of marketing copy into a fact. If your site says "five bays" in a sentence, that sentence is stored as a quote and the bay count stays empty until it comes from a booking system or from you.
-
04
What selection needs
An evidenced reason to matter — something a golfer would travel across a city for. A person decides it, and the record carries their name. There is no score and no formula.
The baseline
Before anything else
-
01
Golf is central
The golf is the reason the venue exists, not an amenity beside something else.
-
02
Credible technology
Named, current, correctly installed and honestly described.
-
03
A proper environment
Adequate ceiling height, maintained mats and screens, a room that is looked after.
-
04
Meaningful access
Public or membership access a reader can actually obtain.
-
05
Verifiable facts
Current information we can check, and re-check.
What will not get you listed
None of these is a reason to matter, and none of them becomes one in combination with the others.
- Incidental simulators in bars, hotels and gyms
- Novelty venues where golf is the theme, not the activity
- Weakly evidenced listings we cannot verify
- Private installations a reader could never access
- Anywhere the room is neglected, whatever the technology
